This Privacy Policy describes how Geonex ("Geonex", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses,
and shares information when you use the Geonex mobile application (the "App"). By using
the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
-
Account information. When you sign in, we collect your email address and
basic profile information (such as your name) via Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication.
-
Location data. With your permission, the App accesses your device's precise
(GPS) and approximate location to let you create points, lines and polygons, convert
coordinate systems, and perform address and elevation lookups. Location data is core to the
App's functionality and is only collected while you use these features.
-
Photos and files. If you attach photos to your points, lines or polygons,
the App accesses your camera and/or photo storage with your permission and uploads those
photos to your account's cloud storage.
-
User content. Points, lines, polygons, layers, and related metadata you
create in the App are stored in our cloud database so they can be saved, synced across
devices, and shared with collaborators you invite.
-
Purchase information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, the purchase is
processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do
not receive or store your payment card details.
-
Device and diagnostic data. We automatically collect crash reports and basic
diagnostic data (such as device model and OS version) to help us fix bugs and improve
stability.
-
Advertising identifiers. If you use the free (non-subscribed) version of the
App, we and our advertising partners may collect your device's advertising ID to show and
measure ads. Subscribers do not see ads and this data is not collected for them.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide core App features: creating and converting geographic data, saving your work,
and syncing it across your devices.
- To enable collaboration features, such as sharing layers with team members you choose.
- To process and manage subscriptions.
- To diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve the App's performance and reliability.
- To show ads to free-tier users and measure their performance.
- To communicate with you about your account or respond to support requests.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services to operate, each of which processes
data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage,
Crashlytics) — account management, data storage, and crash reporting.
- Google Maps Platform — map display and location services.
- Google AdMob — advertising for free-tier users.
- Google Play Billing — subscription purchases.
You can review Google's privacy practices at
policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only: with the third-party
service providers listed above, who process it on our behalf; with collaborators you
explicitly invite to a shared layer; or when required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and user content for as long as your account is active, so that your
data remains available to you. You can request deletion of your account and associated data
at any time by contacting us (see Section 10).
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard services (Google Firebase) with encryption in transit and access
controls to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is
completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You may access, update, or request deletion of your account and data at any time, either from
within the App (Settings → Account → Delete account) or by submitting our
account deletion request form. You can also disable location,
camera, or storage permissions at any time through your device settings, though this may limit
the App's functionality.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with
an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes
acceptance of the revised policy.
